Maia is one of the newest day cruises on Ha Long Bay - a striking blue, three-deck vessel for up to 99 guests, launched in 2024. The lower decks hold an elegant restaurant with panoramic windows, and the top deck opens into a spacious sundeck with an outdoor jacuzzi looking out over the water.

The 7.5-hour itinerary takes in the bay's headline sights without rushing: sailing past the famous Fighting Cock and Incense Burner islets, into Sung Sot (Surprise) Cave, kayaking through Luon Cave, then climbing or swimming at Titop Island before a sunset party closes the day.

Day Trip

Hanoi – Ha Long Bay – Hanoi

06:45–07:15A private limousine collects you from your hotel in the Hanoi Old Quarter for the drive to the coast.

09:45Arrive at Tuan Chau Harbour, check in and board Maia with a welcome drink.

10:00The cruise departs into Ha Long Bay, sailing past the Fighting Cock and Incense Burner islets and thousands of limestone karsts.

11:00Seafood buffet lunch served on board as you cruise deeper into the bay.

13:00Explore Sung Sot (Surprise) Cave, one of the largest and most spectacular caves in Ha Long Bay.

14:00Kayak or take a bamboo boat through Luon Cave, gliding beneath towering cliffs.

14:30Titop Island - swim from the beach or climb to the summit for a panorama of the bay.

15:30–16:00Sunset party back on board: tea, cakes and fruit on the sundeck, with time in the outdoor jacuzzi.

Our experience of

Maia Cruise

We've hosted guests aboard the Maia and been over her ourselves, and she's our pick for a day trip that still feels special. The boat is new and clean, there's a small open pool on the top deck, and the views are the kind guests describe as once in a lifetime.

The day is well paced: a morning kayak, the Luon Cave paddle, a guided walk through the Surprising Cave, and a lunch that comes up as better and more generous than people expect on a day cruise. The crew get singled out by name in reviews, which tells you plenty, and the sunset moment on deck is the one guests photograph most.
