The Hotel

Amira Premium Lodge is a 22-room, five-storey wooden lodge at Don Cao on the edge of Dong Van's Old Quarter, in the far north of the Ha Giang loop. Every room has a private balcony, with sizes from 30m² to a 58m² top-floor suite, and the upper floors look over the town and the karst ranges. On site are a rooftop sky bar, a swimming pool and a restaurant, with breakfast from 06:00. It suits loop travellers wanting a comfortable night in Dong Van near the old market.

Too new to have a track record - we found no guest reviews on Tripadvisor, Google, Agoda, Expedia or Hotels.com yet. The lodge sells itself on 22 wooden-fronted rooms with private balconies over the valley, a rooftop bar for the sunset, and a restaurant serving Vietnamese and Western breakfasts.

Getting about: it sits in Dong Van's old quarter, so the market, the old stone houses and the town's cafes are a few minutes on foot - the Lung Cu flag tower and the Ma Pi Leng pass are day trips by car or motorbike.

The lodge publishes seven categories from a 30m² Stone Classic room on the first floor to a 58m² Summit Royal Suite on the top floor with a king bed and outdoor bathtub. Few Days uses five of them; all have a private balcony and most have one double bed.

Where is it and what is walkable?

It is at Don Cao in Dong Van town, at the edge of the Old Quarter. The old market square, the Old Quarter's stone houses and the town's cafes are a few minutes' walk. Lung Cu flag tower is about 25 km north and Ma Pi Leng pass about 20 km east.

Is breakfast included?

Yes. A buffet breakfast with Vietnamese, Western and vegetarian options is served from 06:00 to 10:00 and is included in the Few Days rate.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

The lodge does not publish fixed times on its website. Few Days will confirm them with your booking; most hotels in the region use 14:00 in and 12:00 out.

Is it suitable for families?

The Premium Mountain View and Summit Signature rooms take three adults and a child, and the suites have a living area. There is a pool, but Dong Van is a long, winding drive, so it suits older children better than toddlers.

How do I get there and how long does it take?

Dong Van is about 145 km north of Ha Giang city on road 4C, roughly four to five hours by car over Quan Ba and Yen Minh. From Hanoi allow a full day: about six hours to Ha Giang city, then the mountain road. Few Days arranges the driver.
